MY DREAM ABOUT RAINBOWS

(Thanks to Charlotte from South Africa for this Blessing)

(May/June 2002)

Before I describe the dream I had & subsequent events, I would like to start by sharing what God showed me about His blessings. I had been blessed with the opportunity of going away on holiday for 10 days to the tropical island of Mauritius. When I began to feel guilty about this, God showed me that He wanted to bless me in this and that I was to see it as a gift from Him. I had to learn to receive. and be thankful to Him.

Rainbows..

I woke up one Sunday morning having dreamt about a clear blue sky filled with many rainbows. And I remember calling my mother & telling her to come & see all the beautiful rainbows in the sky.

I did not think that there could be any message in this and went on with my day. But the picture stayed with me & I began to wonder if it could mean anything. I asked several Christian friends what they thought it could mean. Some said it meant 'covenant' and one in particular said that it means the 'promises' of God to me in His Word & that I should be taking them to heart. When she mentioned this I remembered that that very Sunday morning at our church service, our minister had spoken about standing on the promises of God, and he had asked several people to quote some of God's promises in the Word. One of his phrases that I had written down was - "His Word is full of promises. We must take them to ourselves and let them become real to us." So the following morning I decided to phone his wife & share the dream with them. When I had shared with her, she could not believe it as she had, on 2 separate occasions during the previous 2 weeks, seen a huge rainbow in a dark, rain-threatening, cloudy sky. She had been so impressed by this that she had even taken photos. My dream had served as encouragement & confirmation to her about what God had shown her.

(Photo taken in Mauritius on a previous visit.)

I then wondered why in my dream the sky had been a clear one, as usually rainbows appear in cloudy, rainy weather. God seemed to say that we are to cling to His Word & stand on His promises at all times & not wait for the dark clouds of life to appear first.

Sunday - A WEEK LATER.

I had been away from my home town and was returning home by plane. As we were descending I noticed clouds, and as I looked down there appeared this perfect circular rainbow. In the center was the shadow of our plane as the sun was above us. As we descended, the rainbow got bigger as well as the shadow of the plane in the center, until we got beneath the clouds. WOW - was I excited! A perfect circular rainbow showing God's eternal covenant. And in a sense I was there in the center - in the plane whose shadow was in the center of that rainbow.
1 John 2:25  "And this is the promise that He has promised us - eternal life." (NKJV)

(Photo taken from the plane - in the center is the rainbow & shadow of the plane... if you look closely! Unfortunately I ran out of film & could not take one closer.)

The following day, Monday, I was pondering over this and thought.  we have to look up to see a rainbow.. But soon I realized that I had looked down from the plane to see one. With that I remembered a song I had sung many years ago - "Keep looking down, you're seated in heavenly places."

Eph.1:3         "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, . " (NKJV)

Eph.2:6         ". and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ."

When I awoke the next day, Tuesday, I realized that I had once again dreamt about a sky full of rainbows - just as was the first dream, except this time the sky was blue but partly-cloudy, and this time I had called my sister to come & see the rainbows and to show her what I had seen in the first dream.

Gen.9:13       " .I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth."

Rainbows, rainbows, rainbows.....

I believe God is telling us to take action and to take His Word to heart, to act on His word and to receive His promises as blessings from Him! We are to abide in Him, in His word, to know His promises, and to apply them in our walk with Him daily.

2 Peter 1:4    ". by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, ."

His promises are blessings that He has given us. He wants His promises to be at work through us - and all to the glory of God.

2 Cor. 1:20    "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us." (NKJV)

Rev. 10:1      "I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, ." (NKJV)

Did you know...?    ... that you must have your back to the sun to see a rainbow?

This speaks to me of God's Son, Y'shua, watching over us from behind -

Ps. 139 : 5     "You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me."

HALLELUJAH!
