I decided to
drive my 79 year old mother to Jerusalem to
visit with some of her old friends whlie she was
staying with us here in Israel. Mom has come for
a two month visit and to celebrate the Passover
with us.
I had not been
to Jerusalem in over 3 years and I felt a real
need to get up the mountain and to stand at the
Westen Wall. I drove from Kiryat Yam to
Jerusalem full of anticipation. I really wanted
to walk the Old City and place my hands on the
rememnant of the Temple Wall and to stand on Mt.
Moriah.
The first stop
of course, the Wall.
When I entered
the plaza, I could only stand and look at the
Wall. I was remembering that Yeshua also had
walked there and had preached there as a young
boy and had thrown out the money changers and
merchants. As I walked closer, I felt a tingling
sensation.
Very slowly I
walked closer and closer to the Wall. I arrived
and placed my hands against the soothing stones
and I felt the presence of the Lord. Tears came
to my eyes, after 2000 of destruction, I could
still feel HIS presence, could still feel HE was
there. I leaned my head against the wall and let
my lips brush the smooth surface and started to
worship and glorify Him and thank Him for what
He had given us.
I prayed for
my family and for eveyone I knew. I prayed to
watch over them all and keep them safe. I prayed
for all. I found I could not make requests of
God, I just wanted to stand there and tell Him
how great and wonderful He is and His love for
us.
Suddenly, with
out thinking, I was praying in tongues. I prayed
that way for about a half an Hour. I felt
wonderful. I stopped praying and moved back
about 50 feet and found a chair to sit in and
just stare at the wall. I wanted to shout as
loud as I could. "Thank you Yeshua,
thank you Lord. Thank you for your Son. Thank
you Yeshua for your pain and suffering for
me!!!"
I bit my lip
to stop my voice from shouting what was being
shouted in my mind. If I had said what I wanted
to say, I would have probably been thrown out of
the compound.

One of my
mom's friends met us at the Dung Gate, which is
closest to the wall, and they drove off to have
lunch with more friends.
Alone now for
a few hours, I decided to wander around the Old
City. I walked from the Wall area to Davids
Tower along David's Street, about a half hour
walk up up hill. Look at the pictures to see a
"street" in Jerusalemi. I was amazed to find
that area of the city virtually empty of
tourists, I passed a handful on all the walk.
The Arab shop
owners were sitting out in front of their stalls
throwing their greetings any language the knew
as each few tourists walked by. They are
spending most of their time now sitting
together, drinking coffee and playing Shaysh
Baysh ( long "a", backgammon).
I wanted a cup
of the thick black arab coffee so I looked for a
place with a few people being served so I would
know the coffee was freshly made.
After the
coffee I wandered thought the Christian area of
churchs and again it was empty. I was actually
the only person on some of the streets I walked.
After 2 hours
of strolling, I returned to the Wall plaza to
pray again. Then I met up with my mom and we
headed back to Kiryat Yam.
