Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters The Mercy Seat As I was reading this week's Torah portion Exodus 25:22 just jumped off the page to me. It says, "and there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you, from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the testimony, about everything I will give you in commandment for the children of Israel". The mercy seat was where God would meet with Moses and speak with him so that he could teach the children of Israel the commandments of God. Inside the Ark of the Testimony were the two stone tablets with the 10 words written on them. Yet Moses needed to meet with God on a regular basis to teach the children of Israel how to apply the commandments to their lives and in which way! It wasn't just the 10 Commandments it was all of the commandments all of God's Mitzvahs/instructions. He would act as their high priests inquiring of God as to how and when and which instruction was to be applied and carried out so that they understood the Spirit behind the each law! They needed to be interpreted at times so Moses would meet God at the Mercy Seat. God has always wanted and always has dealt with us with great mercy even since the Garden of the Eden. Now because of the sacrifice, the shed blood of Yeshua Messiah He is our High Priest. When the Temple was destroyed the Ark of the Testimony and everything inside the Holy place were also destroyed. Yet we can still come to the Mercy Seat if and only if we surrender everything of ourselves leaving it outside and putting our faith and trust in Yeshua knowing that it is His blood that has bought us so that we may enter into His very presence. There is where He will meet us also and teach us His Torah and write it on our inward parts. The Mercy Seat is where we go for forgiveness, it is where we find acceptance after repentance. It is there that God wants us to come. It is there He will speak to us if only we will listen. As I sat there reading that Scripture tears filled my eyes and rolled down my face as I heard that still small voice speaking to me. Calling me, saying, "come and I will talk with you and teach you My ways". I felt myself being led by the hand into the Holy place and kneeling at the Mercy Seat covered by the Cherubim. I could feel His presence, His love overflowing washing over me and a joy that came from His heart into mine! Oh Saints this is what He means when the Word of God says to meditate. Then we can walk in the fullness and Joy and strength and love that only comes from the Father! There isn't anything we cannot bring and lay before our great High Priest at the Mercy Seat that is exactly what it's there for! Remember this one thing though, be sure to extend the same mercy to others as you to have received! Remember the parable of the unmerciful servant, Matthew 18:21-35.
